Frequently Asked Questions

Where will my child be staying?

Our campers will be checking-in at Africa Hall in Eleanor Roosevelt College (ERC). The quad is just north of Pangea parking lot. Campers will be staying at Marshall Hall directly south of ERC and Pangea parking lot. This facility gives students the opportunity to interact with many new people and make new friendships. Marshall Hall provides apartment-style living with self-contained units with bathrooms and living areas. Single, double, and triple rooms are arranged in suites. Each suite has a bathroom, living area, and patio/balcony. Each student is provided an extra-long twin bed, a desk, chair, bookcase, closet and small drawer unit in their room. Each residence hall building offers lounges for the suites to meet and hang out with other suite mates.

Students living in the residence halls are not responsible for their own housekeeping and cooking. Meals are provided for resident campers in the cafeteria. No pets are allowed in the res halls. All residential life policies apply. Check out the Student Life Handbook and the Res Life page for more information.

What are the ages and abilities for camp?

Resident campers must be at least 10 years old while day campers/clinic attendees can be 8 and 9 years old.  If you plan on sending your 10 year old to resident camp, we encourage having them attend with a friend or sibling. The maximum age for all camps and clinics is 17.

 How hard is camp?

Campers must be competitive swimmers and should be able to to complete 2 swimming sessions per day of around 2 hours each session.  We will tailor our training groups to the needs of the swimmers.  If you are unsure if camp is suitable for your child, please contact us 858-534-8463

My child is going with a team mate. Can they room together?

When you register, you will be  asked for a roommate preference.  We will do our best to accommodate  requests. Rooms come in singles, doubles, and triples in a suite format.

What is the easiest airport and train station for arrival?

UC San Diego is conveniently located 15 minutes from the San Diego International Airport and also the Solana Beach Train Station.

How can my child get from the airport or train to campus?

Due to University Policy, we do not offer airport/train station pick-ups or drop offs.  Here are a few suggestions:

What should my child bring to camp? Will they have bedding? Do they need extra cash?

Who is watching them at night, in the dorms? Will someone walk them over after practice at night? How far is the pool from the Dorm?

Campers are supervised at all times by UC San Diego Swim Camp Staff. Typically the ratio is 8 campers to 1 staff member. A staff member will be supervising the campers to and from all practices. The distance from the dorm to the pool is roughly a 5 minute walk.

How do I receive the team discount?

Teams sending 10 kids to the same camps will receive a reduced rate.  Please contact the Camp Director Daniel Perdew for more information:
