UC San Diego Swimming Camps
Camp FAQ

Where will my child be staying?
All resident campers will be staying at Sixth College, located within 5 minutes of pool and dining facilities.  Sixth College dorms give our campers the opportunity to interact with many new people and make new friendships.

What are the ages and abilities for camp? How hard is camp?
Resident campers must be at least 10 years old while day campers/clinic attendees can be 8 and 9 years old.  If you plan on sending your 10 year old to resident camp, we encourage having them attend with a friend or sibling. The maximum age for all camps and clinics is 17.  Campers must be competitive swimmers with a working knowledge of all four strokes. There is a coach in charge of each group to ensure campers receive optimal instruction. Campers should be able to to complete 2 swimming sessions per day of around 2 hours each session.

My child is going with a team mate.  Can they room together?
When you register, you will be  asked for a roommate preference.  We will do our best to accommodate  requests. Rooms come in singles, doubles, and triples in a suite format.

What time is check in/check out?
Check in for resident campers is on Sunday between 12 and 1:15 pm at Sixth College Dorms.  Please note we do not provide lunch on that day.  Check in for day camp is Sunday between 1:15 and 1:45 pm at Canyonview Pool. Resident campers will check out at 12 pm on the last day of camp from Sixth College.  For day campers please drop your child off at 7:45 am and pick-up at 5pm.

What is the easiest airport and train station for arrival?
UC San Diego is conveniently located 15 minutes from the San Diego International Airport and also the Solana Beach Train Station.

How can my child get from the airport or train to campus?
Due to University Policy, we do not offer airport/train station pick-ups or drop offs.  Here are a few suggestions:
 - Cloud 9 Shuttle $19 (one way) www.cloud9shuttle.com
 - Taxi Yellow Cab (858) 444-4444 www.driveu.com

What should my child bring to camp? Will they have bedding? Do they need extra cash?
See Swim Camper Checklist

Who is watching them at night in the dorms? Will someone walk them over after practice at night? How far is the pool from the Dorm?
Campers are supervised at all times by UC San Diego Swim Camp Staff. Typically the ratio is 8 campers to 1 staff member. A staff member will be supervising the campers to and from all practices. The distance from the dorm to the pool is roughly a 5 minute walk.

How do I receive the team discount?
Teams sending 10 kids to the same camps will receive a reduced rate.  Please contact the Camp Director Jason Martin for more informati
